Home Remedies for Cough
Cough is something that never let you live relaxed and also
makes your sleep disturbed. Cough is known to be the most common in people in
health problems. Cough needs an immediate treatment otherwise if it does not
cure then it will turn into several other diseases which may cause harm to your
health. There are some major reasons found for the cough. In case, when the
blockage or irritant appear in your throat or upper air passages then your
brain suddenly thinks a foreign element is present and sends message to your
body to cough for removing that element outside. Coughing also caused by a
viral infection, common cold, flue, and smoking or health problems like asthma,
tuberculosis, and lung cancer.
Symptoms of Cough
Itchy throat is the initial stage of cough and literally it
will be converted into severe cough, chest pain and congestion. There are many
homemade treatments for cough by using some natural remedies instead of using
over-the-counter cough syrups. Try these out.
1. Turmeric
Turmeric is one of the most common food ingredients and is
used by every person and available in everyone’s home. Turmeric contains a
therapeutic effect over coughs, especially over a dry cough.
- Take a half cup of water and boil it. Add one tsp of turmeric powder, one tsp black pepper and one tbsp of honey. You have an option to add one or two cinnamon sticks. Boil it for two to three minutes. Drink it regularly until you see your cough is completely improved.
- You can also make a tasty herbal tea with turmeric powder. One tsp of turmeric powder and one tsp of carom seeds would be added in one cup of water and boil it. Add some honey and drink this herbal tea daily three times a day.
2. Ginger
If you want a pure natural cure of cough, ginger is best for
this purpose.
- Crush ginger and put it in a cup of water and then boil. Drink this herbal solution three times a day for making your throat relaxed and to stop severe cough. You can also add some lemon juice.
- Another easy way to use ginger is to chew it on and off throughout the day.
3. Lemon
Lemon is also useful for reducing cough. It can
be used in different ways. Lemon contains the inflammatory properties and also
provides a dose of infection-fighting vitamin C.
- You can make a simple cough syrup by your own while combining two tbsp of lemon juice and one tbsp of honey then heat in a low flame. By drinking it daily it will surely help you in reducing your cough as soon as possible.
- Blend lemon juice with a little amount of honey and a pinch of cayenne pepper and then drink it.
4. Garlic
Garlic has both antibacterial and antimicrobial components
that greatly help in cough problem.
- Take a cup of water and boil three cloves of garlic in it, also add the oregano herb. Let it cool down at room temperature. Add honey and drink it daily. This will help you in relieving the breathing problems due to cough symptoms.
- Crush one clove of garlic and mix it with a few drops of olive oil and add some honey and then eat it directly. It is helpful for relaxing the sore throat.
5. Onion
Onion remedy is also very simple because it is present in
everyone’s home so you will never get late to make yourself relief from cough.
You will just have to cut onions. The strong vapors of onion are much
beneficial that breathing in them will help you stop your cough.
- Bake onion juice, comfrey, tea and honey and make a homemade cough syrup. Drink it on the regular basis until you identify that your cough is improved.
- Another remedy that will be helpful is to combine one-half tsp of onion juice with one tsp of pure honey. Drinking this great solution twice a day will reduce the cough and soothe your throat.
6. Hot Milk with Honey
Hot milk and honey is good for dry cough and reduction of
chest pain.
- Take a cup of hot milk and add one tsp of honey in it.
- Drink it daily before going to sleep.
- You can also get benefit from the deadening properties of honey, Swallow a tsp of plain honey on empty stomach to clear the mucus and soothe your throat.
7. Cayenne
Using cayenne as cough remedy will help you in relieving the
chest pain which is mostly due to the continuous coughing.
- You can make a cough syrup by mixing fourth-tsp of cayenne pepper, one-fourth tsp of ground ginger, one tbsp of honey and one tbsp of apple cider vinegar and tbsp of water.
- Drinking this efficient herbal syrup regularly for three times a day will definitely give you a positive outcome of your health.
8. Carrot juice
The variety of vitamins and nutrients are present in carrot juice
that helps you in relieving several symptoms of cough.
- Make a fresh juice of four to five carrots and add some water to make it like a dilute solution. Add some honey for taste.
- Drink fresh juice three times a day until you see your health is improved.
9. Grapes
Grapes contain such properties that most of the people do
not know about its benefits. Grapes act as an expectorant, releasing the mucus
from the effected parts of your respiratory system. If you are getting rid of
the mucus faster, you will automatically feel your cough is reducing faster.
- What should you do? You can simply eat grapes or make juice of some fresh grapes.
- \You can add a spoonful of honey that will be effective for soothing your throat.
10. Almonds
All the nutritional properties are present in almonds that
play an upbeat role in relieving the cough health problems.
- Take five to six almonds and soak them in water for 10 hours approximately.
- After that make a thick paste of almonds by grinding them and then add one tsp of butter in that paste.
- Eat it four times a daily until you find your symptoms have been improved.
