Woman’s urine is the most important thing to identify the sign of pregnancy either positive or negative. The sample of woman’s urine is used to check the early pregnancy result in the modern era. The ancient Egyptians had a unique way of testing the pregnancy like the Egyptian physicians used to pour the woman’s urine on a mixture of grains, if any one of the grains germinated; the result was thought to be positive. This technique was supposed to be inaccurate sometimes. The modern techniques then used by the scientists for the determination of pregnancy by different methods and after the little success, the late HCG pregnancy strip was invented in 1968 by Margaret Crane. Now all the women from the world can easily check the pregnancy at home. The HCG strip can be easily available at the chemist shops. On the other hand, the blood test is also done for the confirmation of pregnancy result.

Signs of Pregnancy

There are some early or late symptoms are found due to which a woman can feel the presence of fetus in her womb such as missed periods, vomiting, fatigue, swollen feet, tender breasts and food cravings. There are few homemade pregnancy testers that you can try quickly in your own house by using the simple items.

1.  Dandelion Leaves

• Take a container and put few dandelion leaves in it.

• Make sure that the leaves cannot come in contact with the sunlight.

• Drink plenty of water before performing the test to make your bladder full.

• Urinate on the leaves, they will get completely submerged.

• After passing 10 minutes, check if the red bumps are seen on the leaves.

• The result will then positive.

2.  Pine Sol

• Mix different parts of pine tree together like cones, twigs and needles for making a pine sol in a hard plastic container.

• Urinate on that then wait for at least 10 minutes.

• If you see the color of pine sol has changed then the result is positive.

3.  Bleach

• In a cup mix urine and bleach.

• If the mixture becomes like a foam then you have some good news.

4.  Toothpaste

• Mix one full spoon of toothpaste (milky white paste) and some urine in a plastic cup.

• If the paste turns blue and soapy it means you are having the positive result.

Note: There is not a proper and constant amount of urine is suggested. Along with this, there is not a limited time for the mixture to turn frothy.

5.  Vinegar

• Take a sample of urine in a plastic cup.

• Mix some vinegar in this cup.

• You will see some bubbles while mixing them; the bubbles are not harmful for you.

• If you see the color is changing, it means you are expecting.

• There is not a constant requirement of urine and vinegar.

6.  Wheat and Barley

• Pour the urine over the wheat and barley seeds.

• If one of the seeds is germinated then it means you are pregnant.

• By the Egyptians, if the wheat grows, it means you have a baby girl.

• If the barley grows, you have a baby boy.

7.  Sugar

• Try this test in the morning urine because it is concentrated in the morning.

• Take a bowl and add 2 or 3 tbsp of sugar and urinate on it.

• If you see the particles of sugar are dissolving, the result is negative.

• The formation of clumps however shows the positive result.

8.  Mustard Powder

• Fill a bath tub with fresh water then add some mustard powder in it.

• Soak your body in that water for 20 minutes.

• Take a shower with the regular water and wait for the next day.

• If your periods start the next day, that it means your period is late due to certain reasons.

• If there is no spotting or bloody discharge on the next day then it means you are expecting a good news.

9.  Soap

• Use any soap for this test.

• Add urine to a small piece of soap.

• If froth or foam forms, or if the soap gets bubbly then it means the result is positive.

10.  Tuna Juice and Vinegar

• In a plastic cup, add 1/4^th cup of tuna juice and 1/4^th cup of vinegar.

• Now urinate in a separate cup then add urine into that mixture.

• After few minutes, if the color of the mixture changes into green then it means you are pregnant.

• If the color changes into yellowish orange, it shows the negative result.

11.  Urine Collection

• Take a bottle jar and collect your urine in that jar.

• Remember to put the jar on the flat surface and do not touch it.

• After 24 hours, if you notice the thin white layer on the top of the urine, the sign is for positive pregnancy.

• If there is no layer, the result is negative.

12.  Peroxide and Tylenol Mix

• Collect your morning urine in a cup and add peroxide and Tylenol in equal amounts.

• If the liquid in glass turns into blue color, it means you are pregnant.

13.  Wine Test

• During the medieval times, women used to pour their urine with wine to confirm the pregnancy.

• If the urine does not change its color, the result was ought to be negative.

14.  Onion Insertion

• This method was used by the ancient Greeks.

• The doctor was inserted the onion in the woman’s vagina and let it stay there for a night.

• On the next day, if the woman’s breathe smelt of onion then it means she is pregnant.

• Greek’s believed that woman’s vagina is more absorbent and that it sucks all the onion juice into the bloodstream.

15.  Latch Test

• In the past time, the woman would place a latch in a bowl and urinated on it until it was completely soaked in the urine.

• Then it was very difficult for her to wait for 3 hours to confirm the pregnancy results whether positive or negative.

• After three hours, on removing the latch from a bowl, if a print appeared at the bottom of the bowl, the result is positive.

16.  Red Cabbage Test

• This test is used to determine the gender of the baby.

• Chop half of a red cabbage and put in a pan of hot water.

• Now on the stove, put the pan and boil it for 10 minutes then let it cool down.

• Strain the excess water in a cup.

• Take another cup, collect a urine sample.

• Make sure to have equal portions of urine and water.

• Pour the water into the urine sample, if the color remains same that is purple, you got a chances of a baby girl.

• If the color changes to a pink-red color, it shows you have a baby boy.

Points to Remember

• Always use morning urine as a sample because it is less diluted.

• While using bleach, make sure to be careful because its smell is awful and sharp so do not let it get into your lungs.

• Do not easily believe on the results of the above mentioned tests alone, you must have to visit a gynecologist just for confirmation.

• While doing the method, always sure to put up the sample and tester on a flat surface.

• Dispose off the plastic container you used like spoon, cup or anything.
