Home Remedies for Endometriosis

Endometriosis belongs with the gynecological problem and it is produced when endometriosis, a kind of tissue lining grows inside the surface of the uterus. In approximately 176 million women and girls, it grows on the wrong areas like on the outside of the uterine cavity, on ovaries, bowel and tissues found on the lining of uterus. At the age of women’s puberty, a change in hormones is a natural procedure but sometimes hormones get disturb and cannot be able to do proper functioning. Misplacing of endometrium is also a part of hormonal disturbances in the body. It becomes stuck with your body and do not find any path to exit from your body. Endometrium grows more and more and cause irritation and scars on that area which is a big problem seems for women fertility. It makes you feel severe pain during menstrual cycle.
How to Cure Endometriosis
The exact cause of endometriosis is not identified yet but it may be said that backward menstrual flow or regressive menstruation would play an important role. Women around 25 to 40 age suffer with this problem. Sometimes genetic factors are involved that pass through generation after generation, weak immune system and environmental toxic substances have a big hand. There are some symptoms through which a woman can recognize the signals of growing endometrium in her body such as pelvic pain, pain during sexual intercourse, painful bowel movements, irregular bleeding, swollen abdomen, infertility, indigestion, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, sharp ovulation pain, fatigue and tiredness, nausea and cramps. Every woman is different so the symptoms may vary from woman to woman. You will be surprised to know that some women do not show symptoms of endometriosis at all.

Along with medication, you can also try home remedies which would definitely help you in eliminating the symptoms of pain and infertility. The condition is controlled when menopause stage begins in women. Remedies are as follows:

1.  Castor Oil

Castor oil is recommended from the old age. It helps in removing the extra tissues and toxins from your body so it would be helpful for endometriosis too. The usage of castor oil should be in the beginning of your cycle or at the time when you feel menstrual cramps.
  • In one-fourth cup of castor oil, pour eight drops of lavender essential oil then mix them both together.
  • Take a small piece of cloth and soak it in this mixture.
  • Fold a cloth and place it in microwave until it becomes warm.
  • Now place this cloth on your lower abdomen.
  • Take a plastic cover and put in on the cloth then place a hot water bottle over it.
  • Lie down for 30 to 60 minutes.
  • Do this remedy once in a day.
  • Rinse off the excess oil with lukewarm water

Note that you never follow all of these remedies during your menstruation days.

2.  Sitz Bath

Naturopathy practitioners have high demands on using the contrasting hot and cold sitz bath. It really helps in getting rid of the symptoms related to endometriosis. Taking hot sitz bath will release your pelvic pain and cold bath will eliminate the inflammation.
  • Take two bath tubs and fill the one with hot water and another with cold water.
  • Now add 10 drops of rosemary essential oil or lavender essential oil to each of the tub then stir well.
  • First, you sit in the hot tub up to your waist area for at least five minutes.
  • Second, sit in the cold tub up to your waist area for only one minute.
  • Repeat the method for five rounds.
  • Do this remedy for four times a week.

3.  Pelvic Massage

Massaging helps in the regulation of blood and so to hormones. Pelvic massage can be done on the lower abdomen area with using some essential oil will keep your muscles relax and sooth if having minor pains accompanying endometriosis.
  • Lie straight on your bed and stretch your body as much as you can.
  • Take any essential oil and rub it on the pelvic area or you can say lower abdominal area.
  • Move your hand gently in a rotating manner for 10 minutes.
  • Do this remedy once regularly.

4.  Flaxseed

Omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidant are present in flaxseed therefore it is reliable to do herbal treatment for many health problems. Flaxseed will stop or slow the growth of endometrial tissues in your body and discharge the harmful toxic substances from your body.
  • In a cup of water soak three tbsp. of flaxseed overnight.
  • In morning, strain the water and discard the seeds.
  • Drink this early in the morning.
  • Follow the remedy daily until you notice the symptoms have been slight.
  • You can also add ground flaxseeds to your yogurt, soup and smoothies.


5.  Turmeric

Turmeric is also very beneficial for treating the health problems. It contains a compound known as curcumin which contains anti-inflammatory welfares therefore it is found to be great to reduce the symptoms of endometriosis.
  • In two cups of boiled water, add one tsp of each turmeric and ginger powder.
  • Now add one tbsp. of honey and lemon juice.
  • Drink this solution daily until you see the problem is solved.
  • Turmeric capsules of 300 mg can also be taken after consulting the doctor.

6.  Wild Asparagus

It is also called shatavari in Ayurveda. Wild asparagus is enriched with folic acid which is tremendously recommended to treat the patients with anemia and endometriosis as well. Endometriosis is commonly caused due to low levels of folic acid in your body.
  • In a glass of warm milk, add one tsp of wild asparagus.
  • Now mix them and drink two times regularly.

7.  Ginger

Ginger remedy is simple as it is easily available to you anytime. Ginger helps in reducing the inflammation and relieves the cramping during menstrual cycle. Nausea occurs due to endometriosis can be easily controlled with ginger. The other benefit of ginger is to emit the toxins from the liver.
  • In two cups of water add grated ginger root.
  • Now boil the mixture for 10 minutes.
  • Strain it then add little bit of honey.
  • Now drink this solution as three cups daily.
  • You can simply chew the ginger several times a day.

8.  Chamomile

Chamomile is also an excellent herb which also reduces the inflammation and swelling occurs due to endometriosis. It also cleans up the bladder as it is a natural diuretic.
  • Put two tsp of chamomile in a cup of hot water.
  • Boil it for five minutes.
  • Strain and add little quantity of honey then drink.
  • You would have to drink at least three cups of chamomile tea daily.
  • Chamomile can be avail to you as capsules or tincture.
  • Consult your doctor before its use.

9.  Dandelion

Dandelion is also preferred by many specialists of this field. It is a great herb that reduces the symptoms associated with endometriosis. It also acts on balancing the hormone levels and flashing of liver and kidneys.
  • In a cup put one tsp of dried dandelion root.
  • Now pour some hot water in that cup then let it steep for about 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes, strain and drink it.
  • Drink it daily for three times.

10.  Motherwort

Motherwort is also an herb contains many compounds that work to make proper functioning of blood. It stimulates the blood volume in the reproductive system and keeps them regulated, fight against menstrual problems such as blood clots or poor flow.
  • In a cup of hot water add one tsp of dried motherwort.
  • Now steep it for 15 minutes.
  • Drink this tea twice daily.
  • Motherwort can also be used as capsules or tinctures.

Additional Tips

  • Maintain your weight and avoid foods that are responsible for the accumulation of excess fats in your body.
  • Do all those things that feel you relax and reduce your stress.
  • Exercises like walking, swimming and yoga could be beneficial.
  • Avoid eating processed food and meat like refined white sugar, white flour, white rice and soy products.
  • Avoid drinking homogenized milk.
  • Always try to drink filtered water.
  • Decrease your alcohol intake.
  • Stop smoking.
