Home Remedies for Gout
Gout usually found commonly in people which means stiffness
that effects on the various specific parts of body such as wrists, ankles,
ears, small joints, hands and knees. There might be some special reasons of
gout in those above parts according to medical point of view. Gout could be
identified due to the following symptoms showed below:
- Acute pain
- Swelling
- Intense tenderness
- Inflammation of joints
Reasons behind gout are still not recognized but at some
extent, it has been proved that gout is the major cause of uric acid intensity
in the body. The high amount of uric acid weakens the bones and destroys its
postures that you can’t be able to move the parts properly. Some of the causes
are there that has known before like hereditary factors, drinking too much
alcohol, lack of physical exercise, excess of protein intake and one of the
main causes is stress.
Gout, which is a mild disease and could be changed into the
severe ones related to certain health problems such as diabetes, hypertension, and
kidney stones (uric acid). These conditions are serious at the initial stage
because these can be control by medications but ones the condition will trigger
worse; it cannot leave your body. Seek immediate treatment for the gout and get
medicinal help. Alternatively, if you are not habitual of taking pills and
other so you have an option to apply simple home remedies at home very easily. The
remedies are as follows:
1. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is an excellent ingredient to get relief
from pain like stomachache and headache. But it also found to be very effective
to treat the gout and arthritis. The usage of apple cider vinegar is famous in
herbal treatment for just because of its acidic property which tends to help in
relieving the pain.
- Take one tsp of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and mix it in a glass of water.
- Drink the solution three times a day.
2. Ginger Root
Ginger root is used in many ways for treating different
health problems. It has anti-inflammatory properties that help in removing the
acute pain instantly from your body.
- Take equal amounts of fenugreek powder, turmeric powder and dried ginger root powder (sonth).
- Mix all the ingredients well together.
- Consume one tsp of this mixture along with a glass of warm water.
- Follow the remedy two times daily.
- Add ginger root in your daily meal or consume a small piece of ginger root daily.
- In one cup of boiling water, add one-half tsp of ginger root then mix well and drink it at least one time daily.
- Another simple remedy that you can do is making a smooth paste of ginger root with water. Apply on the effected parts of your body. Do this at least once daily.
3. Baking Soda
Baking soda is very reliable for treat the gout because it
frequently helps in lowering the amount of uric acid from the body.
- In a glass of water mix one-half tsp of baking soda.
- Drink the solution four times a day only.
- Follow up the remedy for two weeks without any gap.
4. Lemon Juice
Lemon juice is great for this purpose because it works as an
alkaline material and neutralize the higher amount of uric acid present in
blood stream. The combination of fresh lemon juice and baking soda gives
effective result.
- Mix one-half tsp of baking soda in a juice of one lemon.
- Keep it aside for few seconds so the bubbles would burst out.
- Now mix it in a glass of water.
- Drink this daily.
5. Cherries
Sour and sweet cherries, both are good to use in gout. Cherries
are anthocyanins and contain antioxidant properties that serve to reduce the
pain and minimize the effect of gout gradually.
- Gout patients are advised to eat maximum 20 cherries per day.
- If you want better results, eat it first in the morning.
- You can also make juice of cherries and drink daily.
6. Epsom Salt
Epsom is recommended because it has magnesium which has
power to treat the gout and arthritis. Magnesium is great for improving the heart
problems and blood pressure. It simultaneously removes the pain in muscles and
joints.
- Every time when you take bath, add two cups of Epsom salt in warm water.
- Soak your body in this water until water loses its heat and turns to cool.
- Do this remedy at least once in a week. But if you are in a serious stage of gout then you should do it for three times a week.
7. Bananas
Banana is also very useful for treating many health problems
and so for gout. It has potassium which works to convert the particles of uric
acid into liquid and then it will be flushed out of your body while urination. Banana
is vitamin C enriched fruit and therefore helps in managing the pain from the
joints.
- Eat two bananas daily and you will notice the change and improvement in gout.
- Another option is to add one ripe and mash banana in one-half cup of yogurt. Eat this daily and it also helps to keep the diarrhea away.
8. Apples
“An apple a day keeps a doctor away” is very common to hear
from people and it is also true because starting your day first by eating an
apple keeps you healthy all the day. In gout, it is must for the patients to
eat apple.
Apples contain malic acid which works to neutralize the uric
acid in body therefore the pain and stiffness is relieved. If you do not want
to eat apples, you can drink apple juice.
9. Activated Charcoal
Activated charcoal is also suggested to use in gout. For
this purpose, charcoal bath is very important to take three times a week.
- In water, add one-half cup of charcoal powder and mix it until it forms like a smooth paste.
- Pour the paste in a bath tub filled with water.
- Now soak your body for at least one half an hour.
- This is truly helpful for ankle joint or big toe.
- You can also apply charcoal paste on the effected body parts. Wash it off with lukewarm water after leaving for half an hour.
- Activated charcoal capsules are also easily available at the drug stores so you can take them and see the results. Do not forget to consult your doctor before buying capsules.
10. Cold Water
The affected area when soak in water will make you feel
comfortable and relax. It helps in reducing the swelling and stiffness. In
gout, it is not prescribed to use ice cubes directly on the skin because it
leads to damage the skin and makes difficulty in handling the situation.
- Place your swollen joint in cold water for at least 15 minutes.
- Repeat the procedure several times a day.
- You can also take ice pack wrap in a towel and place it on the affected areas for 15 minutes.
- Do this remedy two times in a day.
- Do not use ice pack in an excess amount because it cause crystallization of uric acid.
