Few best ways to treat a Pimple on Your Lip
Pimple on your lip sounds so strange because nobody can ever
want to have pimples and especially when it is appeared on lips. It never looks
so dark and visible but it can badly hurt a person while talking and eating.
There would be two different conditions of having pimple. In
case of having cold sore, you will see the small and painful blister around
your mouth area. On the other hand, if the dead skin cells are attached to hair
follicles and become red lesions, it is a sing of having a pimple on your lip.
The most common causes of a pimple on the lip may be seen
are changes in hormones during the time of pregnancy, menopause and
adolescence, excessive secretion of sebaceous oil from the glands or building
up of bacteria under the surface of the skin. Other factors like heredity,
exposure to pollutants, stress, diet and the use of poor quality lip care
products can cause pimple on the lip.
Some medications are highly responsible for the pimple on
your lip such as the medications containing lithium and corticosteroids. Even
the presence of fluoride in your toothpaste can be included in the appearance
of a pimple on your lip.
Pimple present on the lip is uncomfortable and embarrassing
as it cannot be concealed with the use of makeup concealers or other related
products. The first and foremost option for this condition is to wait for a few
days until the pimple heals otherwise, you can use some simple and effective home remedies to cure this condition as faster as you want. So here are the
remedies given below:
1. Warm Compress
Warm compress is helpful for getting rid of pimple on your
lip as it is good to reduce the swelling and increase the flow of blood to the
effected site. Warm compress will drain the pus and fluid that is accumulated
inside the pimple.
- Soak a washcloth in hot water and squeeze out the excess amount of water.
- Hold the warm cloth on the affected area for few minutes.
- Repeat the process 4 times a day until your pimple heals completely.
2. Cold Compress
Cold compress also does magic similarly like warm compress. It
helps in reducing the swelling and constricts the oil glands that allow the
excess oil and bacteria to be flushed out from the follicles that are already
inflamed.
- Take few ice cubes in a clean towel.
- Press the compress in a gentle manner against the pimple for at least 3 minutes at a time.
- Take a break for 5 minutes and repeat the process again.
- Use this remedy several times a day.
3. Steam
Steam helps in softening and opening up the infected pores
and allows it to breathe it is one of the most wonderful techniques of getting
rid of pimple on your lip. In this way, the dirt and bacteria that got trapped
in the pores can easily burst out that are the cause of pimples.
- Boil a pot of water and pour it into a large bowl.
- Place your face above the bowl and wrap a thick towel on your head in order to get the steam.
- Take steam for about 10 minutes and after that, remove the towel and pat dry your face.
- Repeat the procedure two times daily.
4. Moist Tea Bag
Tea is important for this purpose because it has a good
amount of tannins which help in reducing the swelling and inflammation due to
the presence of a pimple on the lip. The warmth of moist tea bag when applied
on to the pimple, it will readily help in opening up the pores while starting
the healing procedure.
- For a couple of minutes, dip a tea bag in warm water and remove it.
- Allow it to cool for a bit.
- Squeeze out the excess water.
- Place the warm tea bag on the pimple and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
- Rinse your lip with cold water and pat dry with a soft towel.
- Repeat the process twice daily.
5. Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe vera gel contains antibacterial properties and it helps in treating the pimples on the lips with a faster process. Its anti-inflammatory property fights against the redness and swelling around the lip.
- Cut and open the leaf from aloe vera plant.
- Extract the gel and apply it on the pimple.
- Leave it for 20 minutes.
- Clean it with a cotton ball already soaked in water.
- Repeat the process two times daily.
6. Turmeric
Turmeric is the most important ingredient which helps in
healing the inflammation due to having anti-inflammatory and antibacterial
properties. It helps in killing the bacteria that is the main cause of pimples
and prevents it from forming again.
- Mix ¼ tsp of minced fresh mint leaves, ½ tsp of turmeric powder and 1 tbsp of jojoba oil. Massage this mixture on the affected area in a little quantity then leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse out with cold water and do this remedy 3 times a day. Place the unused mixture in the refrigerator for 2 days before discarding.
- Another option is to mix equal amounts of honey and turmeric then gently apply it on the pimple directly. Leave it for 30 minutes before rinsing off with cold water. do this remedy two times daily.
7. Lemon Juice
Another quick and simple remedy you can do is with the lemon juice. Vitamin C is present in lemon juice and works as an effective
antioxidant that will help in drying out the pus and fluid inside the pimple
faster. It also contains astringent properties which also cause the skin to tighten.
- Take a clean cotton swab in fresh lemon juice and apply it on the pimple. Wait for 10 minutes then rinse it off with water. Do this remedy once daily.
- Alternatively, mix equal amounts of lemon juice and honey then apply it on the lip. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Do the remedy twice daily.
- You can also prepare a solution with ½ tsp of each lemon juice and rose water. With the help of a cotton ball, apply it on the affected skin. Now wait for 15 minutes then rinse it off with cold water. Use this remedy twice daily.
8. Neem (Indian Lilac)
Neem, also known as Indian lilac and it has antibacterial
and antifungal properties which is effective for any kind of pimple. Neem helps
in killing out the bacteria and reduces the pain and inflammation.
- Take few neem leaves and grind them to make a paste. Mix a pinch of turmeric powder in this paste and apply it on the pimple. Allow it to sit for 20 minutes then rinse it off with warm water. Do this remedy once daily.
- You can also chew 2 fresh neem leaves daily on an empty stomach or consult your doctor for the proper dosage.
9. Aspirin
Aspirin is used as medication that you take when you have a
headache and is also good for treating the pimple. Aspirin has salicylic acid
and anti-inflammatory effects which help in reducing the redness and inflammation
caused by pimples.
- Take aspirin tablet into a fine powder.
- Mix enough amount of honey into this powder.
- Apply this paste on your pimple with clean fingers.
- Allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
- Rinse off the paste with lukewarm water and pat dry your lips with a soft cloth.
- Use this remedy 2 times a day.
10. White Toothpaste
White toothpaste you use to clean your teeth is also helpful
in treating a pimple on the lip. Other ingredients such as hydrogen peroxide,
baking soda, alcohol and menthol help in drying out the pimple.
- Take a little amount of toothpaste and apply on the lip where you have pimple.
- Leave it for 30 minutes.
- Wipe it off with a damp washcloth and pat it dry gently.
- Repeat the procedure once daily.
Additional Tips
- Do not pop pimples as it will worsen the condition.
- Avoid touching the affected lip as much as possible. It will help in reducing the risk of infection.
- Avoid using lip gloss, lip balm and other lip products that may have harsh chemical.
- After taking a meal, properly wash your mouth.
- Avoid lip pimple treatments that may include benzoyl peroxide, tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil.
- Control your stress level; excess stress can delay the healing process.
- Avoid oily foods, drink lots of water and eat healthy diet.
